Just a few hours ago we published an article talking about the availability of Linux 5.2, the latest version of the Linux kernel. Its creator, Linus Torvalds, launched it last night, which means that it is not available for 24 hours yet, but there is already an operating system that makes it available to its users. As usual, it is about Linux Lite, a version based on Debian and Ubuntu (and no, it is not the same even if Ubuntu is based on Debian).
What we are talking about in this article is not the availability of Linux 5.2; We are talking about the fact that Linux Lite offers it to its users officially, so it can be installed from the terminal by typing some commands that we will detail below. The best thing is that it is a non-mandatory update, so those who are not clear about it can stay in the version they are already using.
Install Linux 5.2 on Linux Lite with this command
To install Linux 5.2 on Linux Lite, just open a terminal window and type the following:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install linux-headers-linuxlite-5.2.0 linux-image-linuxlite-5.2.0 -y
If we want to remove the remnants of the previous kernel, we also have to use the command sudo apt autoremove, but this is something that I would only recommend after checking that everything works correctly.
Once again, Jerry Bezencon has made headlines for rushing to pack the Linux 5.2 code y be the first to offer it on your Linux Lite. As someone who likes to always have the latest software, I am not a big fan of updating the kernel as soon as Torvalds launches it, since anything could go wrong. I prefer to stick with the kernel that comes with the default operating system, as long as I don't experience annoying hardware failures that make it impossible for me to work with my computer. In any case, Linux Lite users can already install Linux 5.2 if they wish.

A couple of screenshots and more details would help!
