Linux Lite: rejuvenate your old computer

Linux Lite Desktop

It's been a while since Microsoft withdrew official support for Windows XP, an operating system that has reaped great successes and that swept the number of users on the desktop. The withdrawal of this support did not please its users, who are now helpless and almost forced to get Windows 7 or 8, but not all hardware allows it ...

But as you know, they exist modern Linux distros that can be run on older hardware. For example, I own two computers, one of them from which I write this article is 9 years old and had Windows Vista when I acquired it. I got rid of Windows a long time ago and currently has the latest version of Ubuntu and is quite a bit lighter than Vista.

But if your hardware is even older and could not even with Ubuntu, openSuSE, Arch or any other top Linux distribution, we recommend Linux Lite. It is a distribution specially designed for computers with low performance (like so many others that exist for these purposes and of which we have already spoken).

Linux Lite only need a 700Mhz processor, 512MB of RAM and 5GB of free hard disk space. Sufficient requirements to move smoothly to this Ubuntu 14.04 LTS-based distro that has been endowed with a lightweight XFCE desktop environment. It also integrates software packages such as Firefox, LibreOffice, VLC, GIMP, etc.

And if you have come from Windows XP to Linux, the desktop is quite similar, so you will not have too many problems adapting ... Yes you are interested, Can download it from this link.
