The Ubuntu Linux Lite based distribution has been updated to a new version reaching its version 3.8 which will be the last of the 3.x branch with which it introduces several improvements and updates to the system where it promises to be more efficient.
The Linux Lite 3.8 release was on February 1, which had already been scheduled. This version 3.8 is based on Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS (Xenial Xerus) and has Kernel 4.4.0-105.
As well Among the new features that they implement to the distro, they include TLP for laptops. For those who do not know BPD:
“TLP gives you the benefits of advanced power management for Linux without the need to understand all the technical details. TLP comes with a default setting already optimized for battery life, so you can just set it and forget it. However, TLP is highly customizable to meet your specific requirements. "
Among the changes we find that to VLC media player they have added regionset which allows us to play DVDs from other regions using VLC.
Finally Linux Lite 3.8 includes Firefox as a web browser: 57.0.1 QuantumAs a mail manager we find Thunderbird: 52.5.0, as an office suite is LibreOffice: 5.1.6.2, the already mentioned VLC: 2.2.2, finally Gimp: 2.8.22 and Base: 16.04.3.
Requirements to Install Linux Lite 3.8
To install this version within the minimum requirements we must have:
• 700MHz processor
• 512mb ram
• VGA screen with 1024 × 768 resolution
• DVD drive or USB port for ISO image

Now only you must create your installation media.
It can be updated directly from version 3.6 and how? or is it mandatory to download the iso?
