With software development, it is always a bit the same, but we are here to, among other things, inform. Or well, me at least, since some of my colleagues prefer to give their opinion and I give you a spoiler: opinion article about the most popular free office suite is coming. But what brings us here today and now is that The Document Foundation launched LibreOffice 7.6.1, which is the first maintenance update of what will be the last version to carry this type of numbering.
As for the news itself, there is not much to tell. TDF has not even linked to the list of changes, which is usually collected in two articles, those of the first and the second RC, in this y this link respectively. Total, 122 bugs have been fixed that they have found in recent weeks, although it is likely that some were found earlier and did not arrive in time for the release of LibreOffice 7.6.0.
LibreOffice 7.6.1 still not recommended for production teams
LibreOffice 7.6.1 is the most updated version of the suite and the one with all the new features. For work environments, the company recommends using LO 7.5.6, which with 6 maintenance updates can already be considered, rather than stable, more secure in the sense that it is less likely that we will encounter a failure that spoils our work. Even so, I have been on what is known as the "fresh" branch for as long as I can remember and I have never noticed any problems.
This new version available for all supported systems project download page. Linux users can find DEB and RPM packages there, but in the next few hours they will also update the flatpack y snap. It will arrive in the repositories of the different Linux distributions in a time that will depend on the philosophy of each project.
