In early January, The Document Foundation launched the v7.2.5 of your office suite. Although it was already the fifth point update of the 7.2 series, there was still one thing missing to recommend that update for production teams: something that would be released has arrived this afternoon. And today they have announced a LibreOffice 7.3 that introduces novelties, as well as improvements that are repeated in each release: they have taken the opportunity to improve compatibility with Microsoft Office, unfortunately the most used office software in the world.
LibreOffice 7.3 is a new Community version, which has long since become the version for the general public. At the same time they launch the Enterprise version, with which you receive direct support from The Document Foundation team and, if necessary, you can request à la carte functions.
LibreOffice 7.3 Highlights
- Development of new features, such as new handling of tracking changes in tables and when text is moved, which have a positive impact on interoperability with Microsoft Office documents.
- Performance improvements when opening large DOCX and XLSX/XLSM files, improved rendering speed for some complex documents, and new rendering speed improvements when using the Skia back-end introduced with LibreOffice 7.1.
- Improvements in import/export filters:
- DOC (great improvement in the import of lists/numbers).
- DOCX (big improvement in list/numbering import; hyperlinks attached to forms are now imported/exported; edit permission fix; paragraph style change tracking).
- XLSX (decreased row height in Office XLSX files; cell indentation does not increase every time they are saved; edit permission fix; better compatibility with XLSX charts).
- PPTX (fix for interactions and hyperlinks in images; fix for incorrect import/export of PPTX slide footers; fix for hyperlinks in images and shapes; transparent shadow for tables).
LibreOffice 7.3 is the new version for users who want all the new features as soon as they are released, and It is now available en this link. It will soon start showing up on Linux distributions that use the newer option. TDF still recommends 7.2.5 for production equipment.
