LibreOffice 6.1 will arrive in August with a renewed online experience

Days ago we talked to you about the million downloads goal that LibreOffice surpassed just two weeks after its launch, in the same announcement, Mike Saunders, Marketing Assistant for The Document Foundation, mentioned that engineers are working on the next update coming in August.

LibreOffice 6.1 will be the first major update of LibreOffice 6.x and will add a lot of features and improvements that we will tell you about below.

What's new for LibreOffice 6.1

Among all the news and updates that will come with LibreOffice 6.1 we can mention the ability to sort images in Calc, as well as resize them to fit the page or cell.

Writer will have a new list of styles, the ability to insert the page number, support for vertical text used in traditional Chinese language and the ability to remove an ideographic sequence with the return bar.

Calc will have new options for context menus and new commands for when the cursor is in a specific range or a conditional field. Draw will have a new page menu, Writer will be able to export Ruby characters to DOCX format, among many other things.

On the other hand, LibreOffice promises to improve the online component, which will allow users to use basic LibreOffice functions through the web browser.

The Writer Component for LibreOffice Online you will receive new dialogs, the option to find and replace, grammar and spelling, numbering and bullets, linked text, special characters and properties for tables.

The Calc component will allow users to add autofilters and will enable object filter via autofilters popup. Finally, LibreOffice 5.1 will add new languages ​​and dictionaries.

LibreOffice will enter beta for public testing at the end of April, entering the final stage of development in May. If all goes well, it will officially arrive in the middle of August.
