LibreOffice 6.0 surpasses one million downloads

LibreOffice 6.0

The Document Foundation has announced that last weekend LibreOffice 6.0, the free and multiplatform office suite, has surpassed the important goal of 1 million downloads since its launch on January 31, 2018.

This is excellent news for the free and open source software community and, of course, a bigger goal for LibreOffice that is slowly winning the battle against software like Microsoft Office.

LibreOffice has surpassed one million downloads just two weeks after the release of version 6.0, the most recent major update that introduced many features and adjustments over the previous version.

LibreOffice 6.0 included design changes, new gradients, table styles, icons, improved floating bars and much more that you can check in our review.

Over a million downloads for LibreOffice 6.0

LibreOffice 6.0

Last week, The Document Foundation released the first maintenance update for LibreOffice 6.0 improving the security and performance of the application on all platforms.

LibreOffice 6.0.1 It is the version most available for download, but the organization will continue to improve its software in the coming weeks, so this could change very soon.

The constant updates from versions prior to 6.0 have been a key point for the adoption of LibreOffice and the abandonment of Microsoft Office by more and more people.

In an interview with Mike Saunders, Marketing Manager at The Document Foundation, it was confirmed that up to that point (yesterday morning), version 6.0 of LibreOffice had 1,176,317 downloadsOf course, this number has increased and we may soon announce a new goal accomplished.

In the same interview, it was also confirmed that version 6.0.2 is in the works, which will be released sometime in the next few months.

If you would like to download and install LibreOffice on Linux, Windows or Mac you can do it from our official tutorial for Linux or visiting the official page of the suite.
