FreeELEC 9.2.0

The Raspberry Pi offers us many possibilities. In fact, this week they announced that it will be able to run Ubuntu Touch, more specifically on the RP3 and if we use the official 7″ touch panel. One of the uses that we can give it is to convert it into a set-top box, one whose operating system is a slightly special Kodi to which, in addition to add-ons and everything usual, you can install some applications. That operating system released a new version a few hours ago, the FreeELEC 9.2.0.

Kodi 18.5 has been released just a few days ago, about a week ago. Considering that this operating system is based on the software formerly known as XBMC, it is not surprising that they have been "fast" and have released a new installment based on the latest version of Kodi. And it is that the most outstanding novelty of those included in LibreELEC 9.2.0 is that it has become based on Kodi 18.5 Leia.

FreeELEC 9.2.0

LibreELEC 9.2.0 (Leia), the final version has arrived based on Kodi v18.5, version 9.2 contains many changes and improvements to the user experience and a complete revision of the underlying operating system kernel to improve stability and extend the hardware support compared to LE version 9.0.

Among the new features of this version, the developer team highlights that the support for webcams has been improved, they have been added Raspberry Pi 4 enhancements and a firmware updater has also been added for the RP4. They also mention another change for the latest version of the raspberry board: As of LibreELEC 9.1.002, it is necessary to add the text "hdmi_enable_4kp60 = 1", without the quotes, to the config.txt file if we want to use the 4K output of the RP4. Before you had to use other code that has become obsolete.

LibreELEC is now available for download from this link. If your intention is to install it through the official Raspberry tool (NOOBS), you will have to wait a few days until it is updated. If you install LibreELEC 9.2.0, don't hesitate to leave your experiences in the comments.
