LFS 10 - Completely revamped and cross-compilable

lfs 10

LFS 10 (Linux From Scratch) reaches version 10. A project that continues to advance in its development and that allows you to create your own distro from scratch. Unlike other projects, which use distros such as Ubuntu, Debian, openSUSE, Fedora, Arch Linux, etc., with LFS it can be created from scratch. Something more complicated, but that gives you great versatility to mold it to your liking.

Although LFS is located in Distrowatch, it is not a distribution, but a project to create them. In addition, you have all the tools and manual available on their website to download and start creating your desired project now. A GNU / Linux distribution starting from the ground up and learning a great deal about this operating system in the process ...

As expected, with this new release, LFS 10 arrives with renewed packages, such as the Linux kernel 5.8.3, the glib 2.32 library, the gcc 10.2.0 compiler, and the binutils 2.35 utilities. From there, you can begin construction by following the instructions in the manual that has been completely reorganized to improve the way the themes are covered.

Also, if you don't like systemd, you also have an alternative to build your distro with init. And you also have more content like BLFS, or Beyond LFS, which includes 1000 additional packages to build on LFS and create a more complete system.

There are also options cross compilation (cross-compilation), something key for the number of systems that exist today. Now you can compile from your x86 PC to create an operating system capable of running on other ARM, RISC-V, etc. platforms. To do this, you can go deeper with CLFS (Cross Linux From Scratch) that explains the compilation for different architectures and also use ALFS, another point in favor to adapt to new needs, since it allows automating the compilation of LFS and BLFS.
