Let´s Encrypt: free security with SSL for your hosting

There are many companies that offer hosting services, there are even free services. For those who do not know, hosting or web hosting is a service that is offered to customers to have space to store information of any kind so that it is available on the network. The word is an analogy with "accommodation" to refer to hotels or sites that offer accommodation for people, only in this case we are talking about data such as web pages, email, files, etc.

As you can understand, the capabilities offered by the free services are not too high for the needs of most. In addition, many companies offer good prices that also include other additional services that won't be found on many free hosting servers. Everything so that you have a professional platform without doing practically anything. But what about security? In this sense, you have to be meticulous even with payment services, since it is a matter of vital importance if we want to keep our site and users / clients away from attacks.

In this sense, we can always observe if the hosting includes services such as the implementation of security through SSL (now TLS), a cryptography protocol to offer secure communications on the network. Before you needed additional expenses to implement it on your site, going to third parties to provide you with a certificate, luckily the open and free source project called Let's Encrypt. This project was launched in April 2016 to provide free X.509 certificates for TLS (Transport Layer Security) for information encryption. The project is powered by Linux Foundation to offer open, free, free and automatic SSL certificates.

By not needing to pay a certifying company, provides more versatility at no cost to secure your site with SSL. You can use it independently of the hosting if you hire hosting that does not include this service, although there are some companies like Webempresa that include Let's Encrypt as part of their service. If you want to try this web hosting company, you can hire a hosting plan with them with some discount using a Webempresa coupon, so you will test for yourself the benefits of Let's Encrypt.

With Let´s Encrypt you will have many advantages. One of them is the ease of installation, it does not need any confirmation email, it does not need to have a dedicated IP (as with other certification services, which also entail extra additional costs), it has support for the main browsers that exist and it is renewed automatically. The renewal has no costs either and you do not need to do anything unless you want to revoke them.

Excellent info! I've done it a couple of times at Godaddy, it accepts LetsEncrypt certificates (although the sales one told me it couldn't be because it's from "another company"), there's a tutorial on how to do it from the console and adding a text file with the keys from cPanel, for which we do not have much knowledge of SQL. I relied on this tutorial (https://www.linuxito.com/seguridad/616-como-obtener-un-certificado-ssl-gratis-de-let-s-encrypt) but everyone who looks for him.

Keep sharing this valuable info !!
