Krita 4.4.5 arrives skipping a version as the last corrective update before the next big release

Krita 4.4.5

A little over two months ago they gave us the v4.4.3 of this software created by and for cartoonists. Considering the numbering, anyone would have expected the next update to be v4.4.4, unless they were following the project and knew that no such version exists. In fact, yes, it does exist, but in reality it is nothing more than a v4.4.3 that was uploaded to the Epic store. Therefore, KDE has released today Krita 4.4.5.

As we read in the release note, It is a latest update to fix bugs before Krita 5.0, and much of the fault that they have launched is due to an annoying bug that was in the version of macOS. The KDE project is already working on the next major update, but it could still take a while and they didn't want to leave Apple computer owners in the lurch.

Highlights of Krita 4.4.5

For all the news, it is worth reading the release note. In total, 76 corrections have been introduced, among which the following stand out:

  • OpenGL ES support for ARM on Linux.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred in the palette popup when scaling at 125%.
  • Fixed a crash with the hack tool.
  • Removed the JPG format from the list of supported image formats for the clipboard.
  • Fixed quick view generator.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when importing a broken ICC profile.
  • Improved the transform tool to use a pivot.
  • Fixed a data corruption when pressing Ctrl + Z while the cut action was active.
  • Fixed palette zoom in fill tool.
  • Improved support for GCC 11.
  • Many more fixes.

Krita 4.4.5 is now available for all supported systems from the project download page. From there, Linux users can download their AppImage, but they also provide us with a repository for Ubuntu and Gento. In the next few hours they will also upload the new version to Flathub.
