Krita 4.4.2 arrives and continues to add tools, filters and various improvements

Krita 4.4.2

At the end of October, KDE He launched v4.4.0 of its software designed by and for cartoonists. As a major update, or with a change of the first decimal place, it introduced outstanding new features such as support for Disney's SeExpr. They later released a maintenance update to improve the series, and today January 19 have thrown Krita 4.4.2, a new issue of point that, without being a great launch, does include many new features, mostly to correct errors.

In the release note they explain it, that they have introduced more than 300 changes and that, to the aforementioned fixes, they have also added new functions. As is usual in Krita, and unlike GIMP, for example, KDE does take advantage of the new releases to introduce new tools, among which we also have brushes. Below you have a list of the most outstanding news that have arrived with Krita 4.4.2.

Highlights of Krita 4.4.2

  • A new, standalone SVG implementation of Mesh Gradients.
  • New Mesh Transform tool, consisting of Bézier patches that can be individually molded to create precise transforms, especially useful for rounded objects.
  • New type of gradient fill layer, this one will make it easy to quickly create a variety of gradients non-destructively.
  • Improved the halftone filter.
  • The macOS integration plugins have been updated.
  • Action of pasting shape style.
  • Toolbar button for surround mode.
  • New brushes.
  • HiDPI support.
  • Bug fixes in a bit of everything.

The release of Krita 4.4.2 it's official, but right now it is only available from its official website in the form of AppImage (direct link). From the project website they also tell us how to add a repository for Ubuntu-based operating systems, for Gento, and they tell us about the possibility of installing the Flatpak version, but it is not yet available in Flathub. They do not mention the Snap version, a format in which we can also install it, but it will be when they upload the new version, which will happen in the next few days.
