Just under 4 months ago, the KDE developer team He launched v4.2.8 of its design software created by and for cartoonists. A few hours ago he launched Krita 4.2.9, which should be the last maintenance version of this series and, according to what they tell us in the release note, who are "it has been one of the most complicated launches they have tried«. In part, because they have had to fix problems created by past versions.
In the past, there was a lot of disaster: when updating Python, the Windows version was screwed up. On the other hand, Apple updated one of its protocols and this screwed up the macOS version. As if that were not enough, the Krita developers released a new version of some libraries, and that even made things worse. In any case, Krita 4.2.9 should fix all those bugs and it was a very stable version in its beta period, so it is worth updating as soon as possible.
Highlights of Krita 4.2.9
- The brush outline has been improved: it no longer flickers when hovering over the canvas.
- Added "Airbrush" and "Airbrush Speed" to the Blend Color brush, and a new Proportion setting, also for the Blend Color brush, which allows the brush shape to be flatter using the different sensors.
- New function «Divide Layer in Selection Mask».
- Correction of errors, 70 in total that you can see in the previous link (release note).
The new version It is now available on its official website, which you can access from this link. Linux users have the new version available in AppImage, but it can also be installed in its Flatpak version (link) or via repository, if we open a terminal and write the following:
