The KDE Project today launched the second maintenance update for its latest version KDE Plasma 5.16, graphical environment available for Linux-based operating systems.
Coming just a week after KDE Plasma 5.16, this second maintenance update is here to add a new layer of fixes with the ultimate goal of making KDE Plasma 5.16 a more stable and reliable graphical environment for users.
In particular, this release has a total of 34 changes to various key components and applications.
The most exciting new features in KDE Plasma 5.16.2 include improved notifications for Snap applications, improved minimun and pop-up plugins for the expanded version of Plasma Calculator, support for the Kickoff menu and Dash to display the calculator and converter. units, as well as many other improvements to the notification system.
KDE Plasma 5.16.3 is coming July 9
KDE Plasma 5.16 arrived this month and already has two maintenance updates. Being a normal launch it will only have five maintenance updates To fix bugs and add improvements, the next KDE Plasma 5.16.3 release is due on July 9th.
After that two more maintenance updates will be released, KDE Plasma 5.16.4 and KDE Plasma 5.16.5, which are expected on July 30 and September 3 respectively. Until then, we recommend users to update to KDE Plasma 5.16.2 as soon as it hits the official repositories of their used distribution.
