KDE Plasma 5.15 will start faster, a look at its improvements

KDE Plasma 5.14

In the latest usability and productivity report, KDE developer Nate Graham has revealed some of the most important improvements and new features for the future KDE Plasma 5.15, as well as in KDE Applications 18.12 and KDE Frameworks 5.51.

Now that the development of KDE Plasma 5.14 is nearing completion, the development team is concentrating its efforts on the next major release, KDE Plasma 5.15, making various performance improvements and adding new features to the base applications and their components.

According to Nate Graham's report, the upcoming KDE Plasma 5.15 will boot a little faster, 100 milliseconds faster than its previous version. Additionally, KRunner will not display duplicate Firefox bookmarks and the Konsole profile and folder view widgets will have better integration with keyboard navigation.

KDE Plasma 5.15 promises to have better compatibility with GNOME applications, starting with the correct use of the resizing windows with mouse cursor in default Breeze theme.

On the other hand, the Plasma Discover update notifications widget will receive support to show the reset button when a system reboot is recommended after an update.

Lastly, KDE Plasma 5.15 will have a redesigned search field for the Kickoff app to make it look more like a search field and the term "Shutdown" will be used throughout the user interface, when before "Shut Down" was used, although in Spanish, this change will have no major impact.

Graham also reports many improvements and new features for KDE Applications 18.12 and KDE Frameworks 5.5, the latter will arrive on October 13, while KDE Apps 18.12 will arrive until December.

100 milliseconds ??? Either the note is wrong or it is wrong, why is the use of 100 milliseconds (not even half a second) faster? no one would ever know the difference.
