KDE Applications 18.04 reaches the end of its life, version 18.08 arrives on August 16

Last weekend, the KDE project announced the availability of the third and last update of KDE Applications 18.04Compatible and complementary software suite for the KDE Plasma environment and other Linux environments.

Arriving five weeks after the second maintenance update, KDE Applications 18.04.3 is available right now with a large number of fixes, translation updates and other enhancements to make the software suite offer a stable and pleasant user experience.

About 20 fixes have been found in KDE Applications 18.04.3 that improve applications like Ark, Cantor, Dolphin, Gwenview, JuK, Kate, KFind, KGPG, KMag, Kmail, KNotes, Konsole, Kontact, Marble and Okular, as well as many other components.

Among other points worth mentioning, support for IMAP servers that do not advertise their capabilities is re-implemented, support for the Ark file manager to extract ZIP files that do not have correct entries for their folders, and support for on-screen notes KNotes follow the pointer when it moves.

KDE Applications 18.04.3 will be available soon in the official repositories of most Linux distributions. This release also marks the end of the KDE Applications 18.04 series cycle, which means there will be no more updates. The KDE project is already working on the next major update, KDE Applications 18.08.

KDE Applications 18.08 is coming August 16, 2018

The development of KDE Applications 18.08 has already started. The beta version will be available for public testing next week, specifically on July 19, the RC version (Final candidate) is expected on August 2.

KDE Applications 18.08 will arrive on August 16, 2018. As usual, after the release there will be three maintenance updates, KDE Applications 18.08.1 on September 6, KDE Applications 18.08.2 on October 11 and KDE Applications 18.08.3 on November 8, the latter being the end of the cycle. .
