How to install Wifislax on our computer

wifislax

Surely you already know the famous Wifislax distribution, a Slackware-based distribution that serves to perform audits on our wireless networks and check how secure they are, being able to decrypt WiFi keys to check its robustness. Today we are going to learn how to install this operating system on our computer forever, to always have it available.

Although this operating system normally loaded on live CD and it is not installed, many times it can be interesting to install this operating system, since this way we will always have it available to carry out security audits without having to depend on disks or pen drives.

Download the latest version of Wifislax

The first thing we must do is go to the Wifislax official website and download the latest version of this operating system. If you want talk to us about the latest version and its news, I advise you this article about everything related to the latest version of this operating system.

Boot into live CD mode on your favorite desktop

Once we have downloaded Wifislax and we have "burned" it on a DVD or put it on a pendrive, we will proceed to boot the operating system in live CD mode. The first option that will appear is the choice of the kernel, being able to choose between SMP for current equipment and kernel 486 for old equipment. Once we have chosen these options, it will take us to the option of choosing the desktop, having the KDE desktop for most computers and the Xfce desktop for low-resource computers. Once we have pressed the desktop we want, we must wait a little for the OS to start up (the time it takes will depend on whether we are using a pendrive or DVD and the reading speed of the USB port or the DVD reader of the PC).

Click on the installation menu

Although in previous versions it was more complex, the Wireless security team has greatly simplified things to install Wifislax. We simply have to go to wifislax, install wifislax and click on install Wifislax.

Partition hard drive

If our hard drive is new and has not yet been partitioned (if we already have the partitioned hard drive, go directly to the install operating system section), the operating system it will automatically take us to the Gparted program, where we must create the partition table and the partition where we want to install Wifislax, something that we will do simply by clicking on the hard drive and clicking on create partition. Then we must press the green ready tick and wait for it to format the hard drive and make the pertinent changes.

Install operating system

Once we have made the partition, we are going to give it to accept so that it will automatically take us to the installation of the operating system. Now we will get a very simple menu that It will ask us in which partition we want to install our Wifislax. Once we have chosen it, we must wait a little for it to be installed, time that will depend on the size of the hard disk and the type of hard disk (SATA3, SSD ...). The version of Wifislax that will be installed is the one that we have chosen when starting, for example, if we have started Wifislax in KDE, it will be installed with the KDE desktop, if we have chosen the Xfce option it will be installed with the Xfce desktop.

Install GRUB

In order to start Wifislax normally, we must install the GRUB boot loader, something that will be done automatically when the Wifislax installation is finished. This manager is in charge of "acting as an intermediary" between the BIOS and the operating system, allowing the computer to recognize and start the different operating systems that we have installed. To install it, we simply have to click on the GRUB option and wait for it to finish. Once everything is ready, we will have Wifislax installed on our computer.

What a tutorial shit where they take things for granted and come up with something like that without explaining how to do it.
