How to install Fedora 24 for newbies

Fedora Installation 24

Ago some weeks that we have among us Fedora 24, the latest version of the Fedora distribution. Fedora is a distribution that is based on Red Hat Linux but it is open to the community, that is, users do not have to pay to use it and it can also contribute ideas, problems and changes that the development team will gladly test and implement.

That is why Fedora is a great distribution, a distribution that many do not dare to try due to ignorance and fear of learning new operating methods. Yes, indeed Fedora 24 does not work like Debian, Ubuntu or Linux Mint, but that does not mean that is not intended for novice users, on the contrary.

In order to install Fedora 24 on our computer, our team must have at least the following requirements:

  • 1 Ghz processor or higher.
  • 1 Gb of ram memory.
  • VGA compatible graphics card.
  • 10 Gb of hard disk.
  • Internet connection.

If we meet these requirements, we have to download the installation image and upload it to the computer when starting the operating system. This will start a Fedora 24 Live system. This Live system will present a screen asking us what we want to do, whether to test the operating system or install it.

If we choose to install it, the Fedora installation wizard will begin. This installation wizard is very simple and fast, the opposite of other installation wizards. And the first thing he will ask us is what keyboard we will use and in what language we want Fedora to be installed.

Fedora Installation 24

Once we have marked it, we will go to the general installer screen.

Fedora Installation 24

This screen is divided into four parts, one of which is the language and language of the system. The other point is where to install our operating system, that is, on which hard drive to install it and how to do it. The third point is Network settings and the last point is the time zone of the operating system.

Fedora Installation 24

El Fedora 24 partitioner is very simple And as in other operating systems, this wizard will allow us to choose what space the hard disk in which we want to install it will have, share Fedora 24 with another operating system, etc ... This is the most dangerous point of the installation because if we get confused we can lose the entire installation, but if we have an empty hard drive and we want Fedora 24 to occupy the entire hard drive, then we mark the hard disk and press the button «Done» which is at the top of the wizard.

Once these four points have been completed, the main screen will change to two points and one of them will be the introduction of the Administrator password and the second point corresponds to the new users that we will create.

Fedora Installation 24

Always display it is recommended to create at least one new user who may or may not be an Administrator (it is recommended that is not an administrator) And after resolving the issue of users, the wizard will begin to copy files from the system, something that will not take long to do.

Fedora Installation 24

When this is done, Fedora 24 will be available on our operating system. We only have to restart the system so that the computer loads the Fedora system that is on our hard disk and not the pendrive system. If you have chosen to install the standard version, with the first start you a gnome software wizard will appear, a wizard that must be completed for Gnome to manage our privacy but it does not appear in all versions of Fedora 24. Only with Gnome. And that's it, with this we already have Fedora 24 installed on our computer. As you can see is something simple and quite fast, it may even be faster than other facilities like the OpenSUSE installation or Ubuntu What do you say?

Information too short. It is not explained at any time how to install on an already partitioned disk, or how to establish mounting points.
