How to install Chrome extensions on the new Firefox

Firefox and Chromium

The new versions of Mozilla Firefox come with quite a few surprises, surprises that are not limited to new functionalities or surprising speed but to a compatibility that few of us expected.

New versions of Mozilla Firefox are compatible with Chrome extensions, which makes it possible for us to have the same functions as Google Chrome but without having to use this popular and heavy web browser. For this we only need a Firefox developer account and a simple extension called Chrome Store Foxified.

As we have said, we must first have a Firefox developer account since the complement Chrome Store Foxified will need a signature when transforming the Chrome extension. The operation of Chrome Store Foxified is very simple since it consists of transforming the Chrome extension into a Firefox extension. Once we have the developer account, we go to the Firefox add-ons store and install the Chrome Store Foxified application. In case of not finding it, it can be obtained through this link.

Now, we just have to go to the Chrome store, from Mozilla Firefox and instead of the "install" button, "Add to Firefox" will appear (as with Mozilla Firefox add-ons). We press the button and the Chrome extension will be added to our Mozilla Firefox. Our browser will ask us for permissions to use this new extension and after accepting, we will be able to use the new extension.

The complement Chrome Store Foxified is not compatible with all Chrome extensions since some depend on Chrome or Google libraries that Firefox does not have, but in general most of them are compatible with the new versions of Mozilla Firefox. In case of not finding the new extension, we can check the Chrome Store Foxified settings and see which extensions have been installed successfully.
