Idempiere: enterprise resource management software

Idempiere is open source software available for Linux and dedicated to something Linux-based systems need to improve on, business and professional software. Business software is sometimes in short supply or the options are not very interesting for companies, while companies like Microsoft do have software of this type. Idempiere is a project that wants to break with this trend.

Thanks to the community that Idempiere develops, there is a professional resource planning tool, to be able to manage the projects that are carried out in a company in an efficient and scalable way. It is an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), that is, a resource management system. It also has at its core a CRM (Customer Relationship Management), or what is the same, a customer relationship manager.

El ERP and CRM of the Idepmiere application they will make life easier for the integration of Linux-based environments in enterprises. But they are not alone, Idempiere also has SCM (Supply Chain Management) capacity, or supply chain manager. But unlike Adempiere, open source software on which Idempiere is based (Idempiere = ADempiere + OSGI), the latter integrates OSGI technology, allowing the integration of plugins to transform them into a scalable, modular and independent system.

Idempiere faces the expensive software that exists in the market, closed and with expensive licenses, but without neglecting the standards. The license under which Idempiere is distributed is free, the GPLv2, and available in two versions, a web version and a desktop version. You can try a free version and a paid version. Both one and the other have the capabilities to manage several companies or business groups, allowing you to select several languages and currencies, it is multi-user and we can have different accounting schemes at the same time.

Taking into account that SAP runs on linux, I would not say that we are lacking in that type of software.

Maybe if more and well-designed software is needed for small businesses.

Now that ODOO before openERP, one of the best ERP, CRM, and much more that exist is changing its licensing policies, becoming more closed can be a good option. It was a pity that I think the best open ERP, as with sugarCRM, let's hope these other projects when they grow up they won't close.

Note that there is an error, there is no paid version of Idempiere, idempiere is free and free (Hopefully it will always be like this)
