How to install Genymotion to emulate Android on Windows, Linux and Mac

genymotion android

Yesterday we saw the steps to install Virtualbox on Debian or Ubuntu (and derivatives), and is that the virtualization It is a field that in recent years has advanced a lot, fundamentally because the hardware has accompanied and thanks to this it is possible to test several guest operating systems in a very powerful one that provides them with space and resources.

If from virtualize Android it is about, an option that has been gaining a lot of space is Genymotion, an emulator derived from the AndroiVM project, very fast that has clients for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X and that is precisely based on Virtualbox.

Offer psychological therapy to employees OpenGL acceleration support, for Ethernet connectivity (with wifi connectivity emulation), GPS and ADB, with which we can even test modifications and root the emulated devices). There is currently no support for accelerometer, light or temperature sensor, but that is being developed and is expected to arrive in future versions.

For install Genymotion We need Virtualbox yes or yes, so yesterday's post on how to install it is perfect. Once we fulfill that requirement, we have download Genymotion, which requires us to go to the website and we create an account.

With the file already on our computer, we must put it as executable:

sudo chmod +x genymotion-1.2.1_x86.bin (para 32 bits)
sudo chmod +x genymotion-1.2.1_X64.bin (para 64 bits)

We execute it and confirm the installer query, after which we already We will have Genymotion installed in / home / genymotion. We go to that folder and execute:

./genymotion

When the emulator starts it tells us that we have to create a virtual device, so we click on "Add", we enter with our Genymotion account data and finally we will be able to see the virtual devices. We can select the one we want, although to have the Play Store we have to choose a device that says "with Google Apps".

We click on “Next” and the download begins: when it is finished we click “Next” again, we enter a name for our virtual device and we click on “Create”.

That's it, we already have the device and we can start configuring it (screen size, etc), although In order to use it, we must click on the "Play" button.”, And that is when the emulation begins.

I am grossed out by people like you, who for knowing more about Linux, they believe in the right to disrespect people who do not know, learn to respect, idiot. And I insult you since you did the same, just to be clear. Perhaps you were born knowing commands and that? NO, so shut up.

I do not understand how this entry can be the first to appear in google, the steps are wrong.

First we download the installer, then we go to the terminal, we go to the directory where we have the Genymotion .bin file and we write: ./genymotion-2.5.2_x64.bin

    The installer will open automatically.

Otherwise the process remains consuming 100% of the CPU indefinitely and we have to kill it from the console.

I can't get genymotion to work on linux mint 17.2. I installed virtualbox (4.3.34), I give permissions to the file genymotion-2.6.0-ubuntu15_x64.bin (which is the most current I found, from the genymotion page), then I execute:

    ./genymotion-2.6.0-ubuntu15_x64.bin

The installation is done correctly, even recognizing the installed virtualbox as valid, plus the message "Installation done succesfully".

But the problem is that when I execute "./genymotion" it gives me the following message and does not start:

./genymotion: error while loading shared libraries: libdouble-conversion.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Of course it also doesn't work by clicking the launcher from the Mint menu. I can not find information about those missing libraries, if someone knows please answer me.

    Thank you!

      For my Ubuntu 15.10:

      sudo apt-get install libdouble-conversion1v5

In Ubuntu 14.04 and Mint17 it should work:

      sudo apt-get install libdouble-conversion1

      I hope it helps you.
