How to install Firefox 57 on our Gnu / Linux

Firefox logo with padlock

A few hours ago we have among us the new version of Mozilla Firefox, a version that not only presents some small changes and corrected bugs but is the first of a series of drastic changes that the web browser will undergo in order to make a lighter program , fast and powerful.

Firefox Quantum which is how this version is known it is a faster web browser than in previous versions and compliant with HTML standards.

This new version is loved by many who have tried its beta version, since it not only offers speed but also corrects many bugs and manages the ram memory of the computer better than its previous versions. During the last hours, uHow many distributions have Firefox 57 incorporated into their repositories? and that makes users have it too.

But it is true that many distributions have not yet received this version and will have to wait a long time. They are the non-rolling release distributions that usually take several weeks to incorporate a new version in their official repositories. If we have a distribution based on Ubuntu or Debian, we can open a terminal and write the following:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-security/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

If we have another distribution, the fastest method is to go to the official download website, download the package corresponding to our platform and unzip the package on our home page. Then we just have to run the file called "firefox".

This file is the executable, so if we want to use it regularly, we create a shortcut to the desktop and that's it. But remember that this will be temporary until the distribution inserts the updated packages from the web browser.

I have personally tested this version and I have to say that the changes are worth the updateHowever, if we rely heavily on a Mozilla Firefox plugin or add-on, it may not be the best option, as many add-ons will stop working. In any case, if you are looking for the latest, then you can get it.
