The new Netflix feature has been on YouTube for a long time.
The new feature that Netflix is testing, it is ideal for those who have little time. Truth be told, not everything on Netflix interests me. Users who had access to the new speed controls commented that can configure playback of Netflix titles to look too fast or too slow. The fastest playback speed is one and a half times normal. The slowest is half normal.
So far this is not a global adjustment, but rather it should be done title by title.
Hollywood don't like

Indeed, most people cannot spend their lives in front of a screen. But there are many options, including watching less content, watching series instead of movies, or watching content in two days. Content at 1.5x is the true reflection of what a society should never be.
I see it more on the side of the slowness to capture details that Netflix's own series sometimes have as a key element for the endings. They are like key points that one must grasp to understand things. Like Black Mirror, Orange, among others.
And I wonder they don't add 2 and 3x
