GPUOpen: interesting tools for Linux

AMD GPU Open logo

Ya I spoke in LxA about the initiative AMD GPUOpen, but now I come to show some interesting applications that they have available for GNU / Linux distros. It is true that not all of them are compatible, the majority being native only for Windows, but you can find in the list some very interesting that you are going to love to work with your graphics card. I just hope that those few that still do not have support over time will have it ...

If you are interested, you already know that you can access all the material and information by GPUOpen from its official website, although you will also find code on GitHub. For example, in the case of the tools that I will show you below, you can access the code from here.

AMD bets again on open some of your projects and that is a great success. It has already served you in the past to get great results. And keep moving forward with this whole GPUOpen platform. Without going any further, we already saw how opening its HyperTransport bus was a success, or how Mantle, which would later end up being transformed into the powerful Vulkan graphical API ...

All the tools under GPUOpen that you have for your AMD Radeon graphics card are:

  • Radeon Memory Visualizer: is an app to graphically visualize the way your GPU is using memory. Unfortunately it's not for Linux yet, only for Windows 10.
  • Radeon GPU Profiler: allows you to analyze, adjust and accelerate the renderings of your video games. In this almost yes that available.
  • Radeon GPU Analyzer: a tool to speed up shaders. You can also download it for Linux.
  • VINEGAR: is the acronym for Open Capture Analysis Tool and with it you can see how good the gaming performance is on your machine. You can download it here.

Remember that in GPUOpenIn addition to these tools, you will also find SDKs for development, information, event dates, news, documentation about the project, etc.
