GBOME 3.34 begins its development phase

The GNOME team posted yesterday the release schedule for the next major version of their graphical environment, GNOME 3.36.

GNOME 3.34 is now available with many changes And now it is time to focus on the next major version of the graphical environment, which is planned to arrive on March 11, 2020.

Development of GNOME 3.36, which will be under the GNOME 3.35.x Umbrella branch, will begin with a first snapshot, GNOME 3.35.1, scheduled to hit the public on October 12. This is followed by a second snapshot, GNOME 3.35.2, on November 23rd.

Only three snapshots will be released for GNOME 3.36 instead of four as used to be the case in previous developments. The third, GNOME 3.35.3, has a release date of January 4. The two GNOME 3.36 betas will take place on February 1 and February 15, respectively.

Finally, the RC version (final candidate) will arrive on February 29 since 2020 is a leap year. Thereafter, The final release, GNOME 3.36, will be released on March 11, but it will arrive in most popular distributions with its first maintenance update, at the end of the same month.

The GNOME 3.36 development cycle is on its way And it will come with surprises for both advanced users and first-time users. For first timers the system will have stable releases for long periods.

Additionally, new releases will be published when they are ready, no matter what day of the week it is, although it has been clarified that stable and unstable releases will arrive on the same day and new tarballs will be released on Saturday instead of Monday. The extended maintenance period has started with GNOME 3.34, with support until March 28, 2020.
