What seems to be the GNOME version that Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan EANIMAL will use (the name of the animal is not yet known) has already begun its testing phase. It will be the next big release for this desktop and GNOME 3.34 is coming September 11, just over a month before the release of the next Ubuntu version. This version of GNOME is already in beta, although the numbering does not yet match what it will carry at the time of its release.
At this time and throughout its development phase, GNOME 3.34 will be numbered 3.33.x. This phase began a few weeks ago, just after the release of GNOME 3.32, a version that is included in Ubuntu 19.04 Disco Dingo. What released today has been GNOME 3.33.1, a version that allows any interested user to have a first contact with what will be officially launched in less than 5 months.
GNOME 3.33.1, first contact with the next big release
The next trial version will be a v3.33.2 that is scheduled for May 22. Later, the development team will also release v3.33.3 and v3.33.4 on June 19 and July 17 respectively. The beta phase of the final version, already numbered 3.34, will arrive in August. Specifically, two betas will be released: one on August 7 and another on August 21. The Release Candidate will be available one week before the release of the stable version, that is, on September 4.
Any user who wants to try GNOME 3.33.1 can do so by downloading or the whole desktop O well component packages loose. I personally think that if there may be errors in stable updates, something that we will receive by installing the Backports repository, using a version in its first beta is something that we should leave to the developers. Of course, if you decide to try something, do not hesitate to leave your experiences in the comments.
