It seems that the developers of the GNU Image Manipulation Program have a harder time writing a new release note than it is to make the changes to their software to make it happen. The normal thing for other developers is that they publish an entry explaining all the news of an update and then, or at the same time, we can install the new version. Not so with the best free alternative to Photoshop, since, as in previous installments, it came before GIMP 2.10.28 than any official statement.
Although things are not exactly like that. From no less than Monday, September 6, and after six months of development, GIMP 2.10.26 was available in a Flatpak version, and not long after it appeared in the Arch / Manjaro repositories. That version never appeared on the GIMP portal, have gone directly to offer GIMP 2.10.28. A few minutes ago, they made official the release of the version ending in 28, so we could say that they skipped the 26, as they themselves say in the note of this release.
You may have noticed that we have skipped GIMP 2.10.26. A compilation error was discovered just after tagging the version. GIMP 2.10.28 is the same without the error. We recommend not building and using GIMP 2.10.26.

- Fixed some accessibility issues in themes, such as mouse feedback or problematic colors.
- A new Script-Fu (dir-make) function allows you to create directories from scripts.
GIMP 2.10.28 It is now available for all supported systems from your official website. Linux users can install it in various types of packages, such as the official repositories of our Linux distribution that we can install directly from our software store, the flatpack or snap, although the latter is not yet available
