The FreeBSD team has announced the immediate availability of the first stable version for your 12 series. FreeBSD 12.0 is here and is accompanied by many software updates.
FreeBSD 12.0 comes with many changes and features removed, modified, or added.
Among the most important new features we find updates to OpenSSL version 1.1.1a LTS, Unbound goes up to version 1.8.1, OpenSSH to version 7.8p1 and KDE goes up to version 5.12.5.
FreeBSD 12.0 has enabled the DANE-TA, VIMAGE kernel configuration options by default. The NUMA option has also been enabled by default, but only for kernel configurations for amd64 GENERIC and MINIMAL.
Graphics support has been improved to match current generation of hardware. The DRM driver for modern graphics chips will be removed in FreeBSD 13.
Among other things, many drivers have been updated and many others have been removed.
FreeBSD continues to be an excellent choice for using free software on modern desktops, embedded platforms, or servers. FreeBSD 12.0 It is available for i386, amd64, sparc64, powerpcspe, powerpc, aarch64, armv6, and armv7 architectures.
