At month of March We told you that 2016 would be the year of Firefox OS and we continue to maintain what has been said. As proof of this you have the arrival of WhatsApp on Mozilla's mobile platform. Starting tomorrow you can download and use WhatsApp for Firefox OS without any problem. This will be done through the official app that will be launched tomorrow and that without limitations or other obstacles can be used on smartphones with this operating system.
Even though Firefox OS was one of the first real alternatives to large operating systems, the lack of apps made few manufacturers lean towards this platform. Above all, WhatsApp was requested by its users. Such request has been rewarded and ahead of time since this service was expected within two years.
WhatsApp arrives in a complete way, that is, with WhatsApp Web and with IP calls, but it will not reach older versions of Firefox OS 2.5, something that will not be a problem either since Firefox OS updates usually reach all devices sooner or later without many apparent problems. Now it is only necessary that more manufacturers and telephone companies lean towards this operating system, something that will surely happen since they are very affordable terminals and with Firefox OS as a base, they are also usually powerful.
The good thing about all this is that by being based on Firefox OS, WhatsApp can be taken to other platforms or even to web browsers since the base of Firefox OS is still html5. Personally, I tried smartphones with Firefox OS in his time and his impression was very good, but like everyone else, WhatsApp was missing, now it seems that there is no problem and maybe even return to that platform, because the truth is that it is pretty fast and good.
Many may think otherwise but this is a hoot, the reasons why I do not get FirefoxOS or Ubuntu Phone are 2: I do not know a mid-range or high-end model that takes it at a reasonable price nor do I see my usual applications in it (there are 3 and one of them is Watsapp) when I see the obstacle overcome I get one.
That WhatsApp is the same as Android, so it is not native to FirefoxOS
