Firefox 89 will arrive later than expected, probably due to the design change

Firefox 89 delayed

Mozilla releases an update to its web browser every four weeks and on Tuesdays. This has been the case for a long time, so much so that I can't remember the last time they did it differently. Yes, they can release a corrective update at any time, but new versions follow a schedule. This did not happen in the last installment, which was scheduled for a long time for yesterday, April 20, and it was delivered to us on Monday, the 19th. Firefox 89 And although there is no official statement, we can imagine why.

The company famous for developing the fox browser I had planned a redesign for the 90th version of the same, but in the end they will advance it several weeks. The redesign has been dubbed Proton, and among other things will bring a breath of fresh air to the image of Firefox. The new look is already available in the beta, which right now matches Firefox 89, but this installment will reach its stable version already in June and not in mid-May as was originally expected.

Firefox 89 is coming in June

Weeks ago, the fire fox v88 was scheduled to launch on April 20, as we've mentioned, and Firefox 89 was due to arrive four weeks later, on May 18. But if we look at the firefox release page, now another date appears, again on Tuesday, but two weeks later than expected. Without an explanatory note or finding anything in a quick glance at their forum, we can assume that Mozilla's intention is to test the new design for a longer time to make sure everything goes smoothly.

As we read in the note of beta launch, the design will introduce changes to:

  • Simplified browser chrome and toolbarRedundant or less frequently used functions will be removed to focus on the most important navigation elements.
  • Simplified menus: The content will be reorganized and prioritized according to its use. They will reduce visual noise by removing unnecessary iconography and providing clearer labels.
  • Updated notices: Infobars and manners will have a cleaner design and clearer language.
  • New inspired eyelash design: The floating tabs will contain information and superficial signals when necessary, such as the visual indicators of the audio controls. The rounded design of the active flange will aid focus and signal the possibility of easily moving the flange as needed.
  • Fewer interruptions: They will eliminate unnecessary alerts and messages.
  • More cohesive and calm visuals: A lighter iconography, a more refined color palette and a more consistent style throughout the site.

La next version will be Firefox 90, currently on the Nightly channel, and will be released four weeks apart from the previous version and on Tuesday.
