They find a vulnerability in GStreamer

gstreamer

Normally all Gnu / Linux users and evangelizers always say that Linux is the safest thing there is, at least more secure than Windows, not only because it does not have viruses or malware but also because of its hierarchy and operation that makes it difficult to manipulate.

This is true but it is also true that every time Gnu / Linux is more used and that makes more problems and vulnerabilities appear.

A security expert has found a vulnerability in Gstreamer, an application that we find in many if not almost all Gnu / Linux distributions. This makes it a major security issue as this issue causes let's lose control of the operating system due to this exploit.

Gstreamer presents a vulnerability but it will be quickly corrected by the Community

The expert who discovered this is called Chris Evans and has only needed a tool called scriptless and a team with Fedora to exploit this vulnerability, despite the fact that GStreamer is present in almost all Gnu / Linux distributions.

Surely this problem is resolved by an update shortly but the truth is that this highlights once again the problems that appear in Gnu / Linux distributions. If it is true that for this you need to be an expert or an advanced user in Gnu / Linux but there are more and more people with this knowledge within the penguin operating system.

The uncertainties are becoming more and more but it is true that currently the response from the developers of the distributions is faster than those found in other proprietary operating systems such as Windows or Mac OS, which means that despite the fact that Linux is more insecure, it is also more efficient in its responses and in responding to security issues.

    Hello:
The good thing is that being gnu linux fundamentally free software vulnerabilities can be seen and solved, in proprietary software it is the owners of the program who know what the vulnerabilities are, sometime someone discovers something but almost always the owners of the program are the ones who do what they want with the vulnerabilities without us knowing about it.
    Greetings.

What are you saying? Do you know what gstreamer is? Gstreamer is present in Linux, Windows, OS X ... It is a multiplatform framework with a development independent of Linux. It's as if you told me that they found a vulnerability in Firefox and blamed Linux because it is open source. No man no. The vulnerability is in Gstreamer and it is used by all operating systems. By following your rule of three Windows is also vulnerable, although this is not news.

I agree with what Fernand said, a program does not make the operating system. Anyway, it should be seen that this type of statement is being carried out saying that GNU / Linux is vulnerable ...

I freak out this guy says that GNU linux is more insecure.

Let's see how many alerts for security problems you see in front of windows and others and most importantly when they come out, how long does it take to solve the problem compared to the rest of the private OS.

It seems very good to me that you hate Linux and that you take advantage of the slightest problem that may arise to throw it to the ground. But think about a very bad thing it will not be when linux managed 99,9% of the supercomputers in the world.
