Fedora shows us what the new version of its logo will look like

New Fedora logo

When we talk about graphical environments, one of the most used is GNOME. In fact, it is the one used by the main versions of two very popular distributions, such as Ubuntu or Fedora. There are many who think that if they had to choose something like "the GNOME distribution par excellence" they would choose the second one, and this year I think they have no lack of reason, because Ubuntu v21.04 will stay in GNOME 3.38 and Fedora v34 will switch to GNOME 40.

In any case, this is not an Ubuntu vs. Fedora or anything like that. I just wanted to make it clear that Fedora is an operating system that is very popular in the Linux community, and therefore that they have redesigned and already presented the logo they will use in the future is interesting news. The secret was revealed on YouTube, in a conference of almost an hour, but the logo appears soon, about 2 minutes.

Fedora simplifies your logo

If you look closely, the new logo is practically the same as the old. The shape of the background that we could compare with a guitar pick, saving the distances, will soon be accompanied by the infinity symbol that we could also see before, with the difference that the F will not be so clear. With this they will gain simplicity and that the new logo looks good in all the products and scenarios in which the project works.

Old logo and new logo

As for the deadlines, the logo has been debating for over two years and will be available on Fedora 34 which will come next month with, among other things a aarch64 version with Plasma that can be used on boards like the Raspberry Pi. But the use of the new logo throughout the Fedora ecosystem will not be so fast, but gradual. For another year or a year and a half, the new version will not be present everywhere.

Are you a Fedora user and do you like the change?

I don't like change. The previous icon is much more avant-garde and beautiful. And that's as a Fedora fan, not as a user, since I've always used Windows.
