Fedora 38 will have an image with Phosh

I can't say that in the past I have been a great defender of Phosh, but neither that I haven't given in to the evidence. Although there are other options that are better designed, the unofficial GNOME desktop looks the least like a minefield. Neither does Ubuntu Touch, but what UBports offers is much more limited. With this panorama, it should not be surprising that they are considering which Fedora 38 arrives along with a Phosh-based image of your mobile operating system.

If you miss a little, but a little, it is that they have opted for phosh and not by the official version that GNOME is developing. Or not, because what is in the oven of the project behind the most used Linux desktop is there, simmering. There are some images available, but none official, let alone anything that can be considered stable. Therefore, what will arrive with Fedora 38 will be the most logical: something based on GNOME that is already usable.

Fedora 38 with Phosh, up for debate

The truth is that this is a possibility that is being discussed right now. There is a proposal on the table, but now it must be accepted and the plans go ahead. Fedora v38 will arrive in more than six months, so the most logical thing is to think that the version with Phosh  will be available on the same day as the release of the desktop version. The project is also evaluating the possibility of launching a version with Plasma, but this would be another proposal that is yet to come.

Although I like it better Plasma, the times I've tried it I've seen that it doesn't work as well as Phosh, and also, at least the last time I used it, it wasn't translated into Spanish. Personally, unlike what happens on the desktop, where everything is much more mature, maybe I would like all the projects to join forces and focus on making something that really works, but it is something that does not depend on me. For my part, go slowly and with a letter that is not horrible is enough.

Fedora 37 should arrive in the middle of this month.
