Ben Williams, ambassador and founder of the Fedora Unity project, announced last Wednesday that the Fedora 27 ISO images updated with the patch for Meltdown and Specter.
ISO build numbers F27-20180112 include the kernel 4.14.13-300 which is already patched against both vulnerabilities, in addition to containing other updates and security solutions.
If you install through these ISOs with the embedded patch, you won't have to worry about updating the kernel to protect against Meltdown and Specter, saving you time and space.
Updated ISOs are available for Fedora 27 Workstation, Fedora 27 Xfce, Fedora 27 LXDE, Fedora 27 LXQt, Fedora 27 KDE, Fedora 27 Cinnamon, Fedora 26 MATE and Fedora 26 SoaSof course there is also the unmodified image.
ISOs have been designed for clean facilities
The updated ISOs are intended for clean installs, saving up to 800 megabytes of space that you would normally use to update the kernel after installing an ISO without this security patch.
Of course, thanks to the original image you can create your own Fedora image. The same developers have created a tutorial for those looking to make their own distributions.
How to install Fedora 27 with the Meltdown and Specter patches
To install Fedora 27 on your computer you can use any bootable USB creator you know, we recommend that you use Etcher since it is very simple to use.
Once you download the ISO corresponding to your machine and run the tool you will only have to select the USB and the ISO image, then you will only need to press Flash to proceed with the creation, if you have Linux you should know that Etcher is also compatible with any distribution free.
Without anything else to add, you can download the ISO F27-20180112 from the official page that we leave you below.
