Arne Exton, one of the Swedish developers behind this project, has released a new Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS-based version of his distro ExTix Linux 20.8. This is one of the first to test the Linux 5.8 kernel, one of the biggest releases to date. Surely you already know the Swedish Exton from distros like Exton Linux, CruxEX, ArchEX, etc..
Almost all of these exton distros are hosted on the FTP The Swedish Linux Society, although they can also be downloaded from SourceForge.net. But regardless of the source, if you want to test your Linux 5.8 rig to ensure everything is working properly, your best bet is to download the ExTiX 20.8 Live ISO image.
The only thing you should keep in mind is that it uses Linux 7 Release Candidate 7 or rc5.8, so it is not the final version. Therefore, you should not use it for daily use or in production, as it could be somewhat unstable or cause certain problems.
ExTiX 20.8 also comes with the latest proprietary NVIDIA 400.100 graphics drivers pre-installed, as well as a default LXQt 0.14.1 desktop environment and just a few pre-installed apps. Therefore, it is a fairly clean and light distro, in which you will only come across Firefox, GIMP, GNU Emacs, Refracta Snapshot, and little else.
You know that Refract Snapshot it is a utility that has become almost a house brand for the distros created by Arne Exton. This allows you to create your own Ubuntu-based or live modified distribution.
Do not worry about hardware requirements. Like I said, it is quite lightweight, and will only need a few resources to run smoothly. What is certain is that it will not work on older computers, since it is only suitable for systems with UEFI and 64-bit.
