How to enjoy Twitch on Gnu / Linux

Official Twitch logo

The video game platform Twitch is revolutionizing the world of video games and streaming videos. So much so that Google itself has decided to create a similar platform to face the Twitch revolution. Currently, to enjoy this platform, either we use the web browser to enjoy the videos or we use an official client to enjoy the videos without having to launch the web browser.

There are several unofficial Twitch clients since at the moment there is no official Twitch client, even though the official client is built with Electron. In any case, there are a lot of unofficial clients that we can use in Gnu / Linux without any problem.

Here we are going to tell you how to install Gnome Twitch, an application for Gnome that allows us to have the Amazon platform on the desktop. Gnome Twitch is the most versatile and popular client of all and it is also the client that is present in more Gnu / Linux distributions hence we choose Gnome Twitch and not other clients.

How to install Gnome Twitch on our Gnu / Linux distribution

We can install Gnome Twitch through the official repositories of the distribution. But also through flat pack. For this we only have to write the following in the terminal:

flatpak remote-add flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install flathub com.vinszent.GnomeTwitch

If we have a distribution that supports snap packages like Ubuntu itself, then we have to write the following in the terminal:

<span data-mce-type="bookmark" style="display: inline-block; width: 0px; overflow: hidden; line-height: 0;" class="mce_SELRES_start"></span>sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8
sudo apt-get update
sudo snap install gnome-twitch

And with this we can already enjoy Gnome Twitch in any distribution. Three simple and quick installation methods to do. Methods that will allow us to enjoy Twitch without having to use the web browser and with it the resources that this application consumes from our computer.
