The famous distro elementaryOS, based on Ubuntu and with the lightweight desktop environment known as Pantheon to create an environment quite similar to what we can see in Apple's OS X (now MacOS as they call it…). Well, they have launched a crowdfunding campaign on the famous Indegogo platform in order to finance a new project that they are up to ...
The reason is that they want to create an App Store, well, a AppCenter in this case. The truth is that with the contributions of many users they have already reached 60% (about $ 5000) of the budget they finally need (about $ 8000), which is good news. Soon they will be able to complete the financing and present us what they are up to.
Daniel Foré, founder of the elementaryOS project, is the one in charge of this new initiative. The developers they will gather and use the money raised with a very clear objective, to create an AppCenter to have thousands of software packages that can be installed with a single click such as the maligned Ubuntu Software Center and others like it ...
With the AppCenter they not only intend this, they also want to promote the development of applications for the operating system, bringing more developers closer to the platform and that they can even charge for their projects, yes, at affordable prices, as is the case with many apps from the Google Play Store. Foré has insisted on this, it must be «a business model clear, fair and ethical let people scream and enjoy great apps«.
