We are already in the middle of August, and the news about elementary OS 7.0 from last month had not yet been published. They hadn't done it because Danielle Foré, solo leader (sounds sporty, but It's been like this for weeks) of the project, has spent three weeks with COVID. Being able to rejoin, a few hours ago he published a july note in which there is still room to talk about elementaryOS 6.1.
Application Terminal 6.1 has received a facelift. Under the hood, they've redone how styles are loaded and saved to improve performance and make the code much more robust and flexible. Also, there is now an option to follow the system style which automatically toggles between light and dark mode depending on the general setting.
elementaryOS 7.0 will have a more responsive design
The project is working bravely to upload as much as possible to GTK4:
A lot of energy in the community has gone into porting Gtk 4 to OS 7 and beyond. The team is making steady progress porting system settings and we have landed the port to Gtk 4 for Sideload. We've also discovered some styling issues and loopholes in styling constants, so if you're working on porting your app to our Flatpak 7 platform, know that we'll be posting some fixes soon.
On the other hand, also they are planning to make everything more responsive. Although it has been mentioned in the July note, Foré will go into more detail in articles that he will publish in the future. The intention is that everything looks good both on small screens, which reach those of mobile phones, as well as on large ones. Right now you can anticipate that AppCenter has already received many tweaks, such as the minimum width of the window.
In a little over two weeks there will be another article on elementaryOS 7.0, and we hope that they will give a release date soon
