Since they have ever done a survey to find out if the community prefers monthly newsletters or that they publish information when they have something interesting, I already doubted that this month there would be a newsletter about this project. I don't know if the survey was won by those who requested monthly newsletters or if Danielle Foré thought they had something interesting to tell, but the February newsletter I arrive on March 5 counting the first updates of elementary OS 7.
This project, says Foré, is working on the feedback given by the community, and among the updates that have already arrived for the latest version of this operating system we have to Files has added a new app menu in the header. It is what is in the screenshot, in the file manager window, and it comes out by clicking on the gear icon. This menu displays options to zoom, undo and redo, double-click to navigate, sort folders before files, and show or hide hidden files, among others. They have also used the time to correct bugs.
Other news that have come to elementary OS 7
El network indicator has been redesigned and now offers a much improved experience when using VPNs. The new design takes up less space on devices with complex network setups and shows the status of various connections more clearly. In addition, a shortcut for airplane mode has been added and other improvements have been made.
La window management Performance and animations have been improved, which can now be disabled, and areas such as multi-touch gestures have also been optimized. There is a detailed list at this link from GitHub on Gala 7.0.1.
AppCenter is the software center they are especially proud of, and with the latest update they have added the Flatpak Repair feature which fixes a problem where the Flatpak runtimes might not be installed. On the other hand, the updates page now shows a small message when everything is up to date, including the last time AppCenter checked for updates.
To receive all these news, you have to open AppCenter and click "Update All", unless the updates have been applied separately before, which is also possible. At the moment there is no new ISO for what would be elementary OS 7.0.1.
