As you well know, Putin has started a war, invading Ukraine and threatening Europe with the use of even nuclear weapons, or with World War III. Almost the whole world has turned to support Ukraine. Well, there have also been many gestures from the world of technology, including from the free software community. Now, John Romero joins this type of gesture launching a new level unpublished for DOOM II in support of Ukraine.
The popular retro video game that doesn't seem to go out of style now will have a new level after 30 years of its creation. One Humanity is available to download for a €5 donation, with 100% of the proceeds going to the people of Ukraine and the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross and the UN Central Emergency Response Fund.
This John Romero DOOM II level is quite a surprise, taking into account the years since this title was launched on the market. It has taken an unjust war for it to arrive.
Of course, to be able to play this level of DOOM II you will have to have a copy of the original game and a modern port like Gzdoom. In addition, you will not only be able to play on your Linux distro, but also on other systems and on Valve's Steam Deck portable console.
