Debian 11.4 arrives with 160 patches divided between security and a bit of everything

Debian 11.4

On a Saturday, as always, and a little over three months after the earlier version, Project Debian He launched yesterday Debian 11.4. This is the fourth point update for Bullseye, v11 which I arrive in August 2021 with Linux 5.10 as the kernel and desktops like GNOME 3.38 and Plasma 5.20. In addition, the main packages have been updated, which allows you, for example, to have more up-to-date versions of software like GIMP, but always a little behind the rest to ensure reliability.

The project remembers that we are not dealing with a completely new version, but with that, a point update, so it is not necessary to make important changes or reinstall. What these new ISO images include are updated packages, and also security patches, among which Debian 11.4 has added 79 patches. As for other types of corrections, 81 problems have been fixed.

Debian 11.4 arrives with 160 patches

The Debian Project is pleased to announce the fourth update to its stable distribution Debian 11 (codenamed bullseye). This point release mainly adds fixes for security issues, along with some fixes for serious issues. Security advisories have already been published separately and are referenced when available.

Please note that the point release does not constitute a new version of Debian 11, but only updates some of the included packages. No need to throw away old "Bullseye" mounts. After installation, packages can be upgraded to current versions using an up-to-date Debian mirror.

Debian 11.4 has been announced a few hours ago, and new images can be downloaded, for those who want to install from scratch, or upgrade from the same operating system for existing installations. The different installation images are available at this link. The next version will already be the fifth point update, and it is estimated that it will arrive around November.
