Debian 10.10 introduces security patches, updated kernel and the latest version of FWUPD

Debian 10.10

With the focus on the launch of Bullseye and after the previous point update v10.9, the project of this robust operating system father and grandfather of many other launched a few hours ago Debian 10.10. As always, remember that it is not a new version, but that what is available are new CD images and that everything included in 10.10 has arrived as an update or will very soon to existing users.

Like all the OS updates that this project develops, Debian 10.10 has arrived for keep correcting errors from the Buster that was released just under two years ago. And that is one of Debian's business cards: a system with less updated software, but very robust due to a conservative philosophy in which everything they include is more than proven and they spend the rest of the time improving what exists.

Some New in Debian 10.10

Among the new features or corrections that Debian 10.10 has included, we have:

  • Synchronization with the latest stable version of FWUPD.
  • Update to Linux ABI 4.19.0-17.
  • New version of shim for UEFI systems and other fixes.
  • Security updates spread across many software ranging from Firefox ESR to Docker.io, OpenSSL, Curl, and other common packages.

All the new images Debian 10.10 are available at this link. As we have explained, v10.10 is not a totally new version, so there is no need for existing users to reinstall or do a clean install.

Considering the timelines, it is not known what the next Debian release will be, but it is more than likely v10.11. Debian 11 will enter "full freeze" in about a month, and the release date of the stable version will not be known until shortly before it occurs.
