Clear Linux: the distro for Intel architectures

Clear LInux Logo

Clear Linux is an Intel project to build a GNU / Linux distribution for various cloud applications. The goal of Clear Linux OS is to showcase the best of Intel Architecture, from the lowest-level kernel features to operating applications, optimizing everything for the company's products.

It was not intended to create a new general purpose distribution, but for specific purposes for cloud computing with this fast and optimized distro instead of a more complex and heavy one. While a lot of OpenStack Foundation software has been included, no graphical interface or printing support has been included, which is not vital in the cloud.

The Intel Software division also wanted put effort into the containers, so useful for the cloud and with so much future in virtualization. Hard work is being done to improve security and its integration with Intel VT-x virtualization technology that is integrated into the company's microprocessors.
