Chrome 74 is on the way, with dark mode in Windows 10 and privacy improvements

Chrome 74

Today was the day marked on the calendar and the time does not seem to want to arrive. Google was due to launch Chrome 74 today, the new version of your desktop browser that will come with interesting news. As, unfortunately, is usually common, there will be news that at the time of its launch will only reach an operating system. In any case, Linux users have to understand that in this world there are many different graphical environments, so launching some functions for everyone is not an easy task.

The function we are talking about has already arrived on macOS in the previous version, and it is none other than the dark mode. Personally, I do not know what it has given me, but right now I think that everything dark offers a much more attractive image than the light that I have been using all my life on any operating system. As for the rest of operating systems, Google will also add new features, something that was to be expected.

Chrome 74 will make you less dizzy

The dark mode we are talking about is not an issue. Is about a system that will detect what theme we are using on Windows (and macOS since the last version) and it will change it automatically so as not to clash with the rest of the desktop. Windows 10 has this option, a bit hidden, it must be said, but it has not yet reached all its corners, like the Edge browser.

On the other hand, Chrome 74 will also include an option to motion reduction. And it is that there are people who can get dizzy with the excessive movement that is in the different web pages. For these people, the new version of Chrome will add an option (disabled by default) that will reduce movement in effects such as parallax, zooming or sliding the content.

Chrome will block incognito mode detection

Chrome 74 will include an option that it will prevent web pages from knowing that we are using incognito mode. Until now, the funny thing was that using this mode allowed websites to track what we visited in this way, which allowed them to create or expand a profile on our use of the web. The new version of Chrome will eliminate that possibility.

Chrome 74 should now be available for all supported systems, but at 22:30 in Spain the update still does not appear. We remember that, when installing Chrome on Linux on systems like Ubuntu, it automatically adds its own repository, which will allow us to update earlier than if it were in the official repositories. Windows and macOS users will be able to upgrade from Google Chrome Settings / Help / Information. If you do not have it installed yet, it is available from here.
