Calligra 2.9 ready for download

A few days ago the new version of this well-known office suite was launched, calligra 2.9. The new version has thousands of changes with respect to its predecessors, with new functionalities, bug fixes and an improvement in terms of the user experience. Calligra 2.9 could be an alternative to LibreOffice if you don't like this latest office suite.

Calligra was also born as Koffice fork, the KDE office suite, just like OpenOffice and LibreOffice. The truth is that Calligra has more interesting applications and of course it supports Microsoft Office formats, just like LibreOffice (although by default it also uses OpenDocument).

Of course it is free and free software developed by the KDE group. Y by leaning on Qt, it can be ported to other platforms, you can install it on any Linux distro, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, Windows and even on Android smartphones and tables (Calligra Active, formerly known as Calligra Mobile).

For those who do not know Calligra Suite, this is also divided into various office software or applications. And they are:

• Words: word processor equivalent to LibreOffice Writer or Microsoft Word.
• Sheets: spreadsheet that can be an alternative to LibreOffice Calc Microsoft Excel.
• Traineeship: program for creating presentations like LibreOffice Impress or Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Kexi: databases to replace LibreOffice Base or Microsoft Access.
• Plan: a project manager to create Gantt charts.
• Brain dump: another application to create notes and mind maps.
• Flow: drawing program for creating programmable flowcharts with dynamically loadable stencils.
• Carbon: a vector drawing tool.
• Crita: for editing and manipulating raster images.
• Author: Special app for creating e-books similar to iBook Author.
