BlankOn Linux is a Debian-based Linux distribution made in Indonesia. This distribution is designed and adapted to the needs of users in general In Indonesia. BlankOn Linux is developed openly and together to produce a distinctive distro of Linux in Indonesia, especially for education, offices and government.
Meanwhile BlankOn Linux has decided to keep support for the 32-bit architecture this in order to provide a system to those users who still use low-resource equipment, where the main computers that still maintain this are those of primary educational instances.
BlankOn Linux it is currently in its tenth version which he has christened the code name "Tambora" (which is a name of a volcano in Indonesia).
BlankOn Linux X Tambora
Among the characteristics of this version we find that it uses the Linux Kernel 4.6.0-1. In this version, the Office application uses the LibreOffice application version 18.104.22.168 which is the latest version.
Features the Gnome Shell desktop environment in its version 3.20 which includes improved support for HiDPI displays and MultiTouch input devices, including motion support.
Manokwari is a desktop environment based on the GNOME shell 3. Combined Gtk + and HTML5 frontend (Gtk + is inherited here and would be totally replaced by HTML5 in the future). It is an evolution of a shell called a blank panel. In this release, Manokwari receives many updates and various features including updated search function, right side panel, weather widget, music player, and beautiful icons. Manokwari on BlankOn Tambora supports higher screen resolutions such as retina display and can also be used on 4k display.
Manokwari has several elements, of which are:
This is a very elegant menu that is displayed when you click on the upper left corner, which will basically remind us of the old Gnome 2 menu but vertically, it also has a search box that is quite useful.
This will show us the windows and processes that are running, so it is something quite simple but extremely useful. If the pointer remained on the taskbar, a preview similar to the GNOME shell taskbar will appear.
Here we will find the most common such as the time, network indicator, sound indicator, input indicator, application indicator and virtual desktop indicator.
On the right side we find another bar, which as I mentioned, is quite similar to the one we can find in Deepin, I can say that it is also quite useful since it shows us applets with actions to the main configurations, such as keyboard and mouse, network, monitor, region and language among others.
At the bottom you will find a very nice and very simple dock. If you right-click an application shortcut in the drop-down menu on the left panel and click "Add to Desktop", the application shortcut will be placed on the dock.
BlankOn X Tambora uses a modified version of the Arc GTK theme that looks gorgeous. Along with a nice icon theme called Tebu, I love the entirety of the BlankOn X artwork. Great job to the BlankOn crew. BlankOn X Tambora also has an elegant shutdown dialog.
