En my review personal and absolutely arbitrary of the programs that I liked the most of the year about to end lIt is the turn of applications that are distributed in Flatpak format. I reiterate the invitation for you to make your own list in the comments form, since the objective of this series of articles is to disseminate the existence of not so well-known applications.
The preparation of this series of articles left me with the feeling that Flatpak is winning the game over Snap when it comes to not only the number of available titles but also the update frequency. However, it is not something that can be confirmed without in-depth investigation.

betterbird
The Mozilla Foundation's support for the Thunderbird email client hasn't been as enthusiastic as it should be. That's why a group of developers started working on a fork that would include not only the features that users have been asking for for a long time but also the correction of errors that we have been suffering from.
Betterbird incorporates complex search capabilities including within encrypted messages, the ability to determine the folder from which the program is launched, the ability to attach recent files, and customization of the way addresses are displayed. Secrets
As I get older my preferences shift more and more towards apps (AND devices) that do one thing very well over ones that do multiple things reasonably.
It is true that many password managers include a module to generate them, and so do several online services, but If like me you prefer a standalone tool, you can take a look at Secrets.
The use is really simple, you only have to determine the length of the desired password and if they should include uppercase, lowercase, numbers and special characters. Once this is established, you only have to generate the password and copy it.
NightPDF
Allow me an exaggeration. Dark mode is the great technological innovation of the last 10 years. No, I didn't add anything alcoholic to the coffee for breakfast, just that for those of us with certain types of visual difficulties, the white background is like garlic for Dracula. And, I said at the beginning that this was an absolutely arbitrary list.
It is true that most pdf readers already incorporate some kind of dark mode. But NightPDF makes it its main feature by incorporating three filters by default (Monochrome, sepia and red eyes) as well as allowing you to create new ones. If you share the reader with another person, it also allows unfiltered reading.
QPromt
The teleprompter is a machine that is placed on top of the television camera in charge of showing the text that the person on the air has to read. The idea is that the viewer feels that they are looking into their eyes. For video creators there are many software tools that simulate how they work. They can also be used for study techniques such as the so-called photo reading or simply save you pressing the keyboard every time you have to turn the page.
QPromt is cross-platform so you can import a script created in your computer's word processor, format it on the desktop version of the program, and read it from a tablet or mobile device.

Glyphtracer
I'm going to cheat. Although this app hasn't been updated since last year, I was so interested in what it does that I make a place for it. There are many payment programs and web services that identify the font used in a text that appears in an image but, what Glyphtracer does is facilitate the creation of a new font that corresponds to the image. This is very useful as an open source alternative is not always available.
Of course, the more number of letter images available, the better results will be obtained.
