Officially available Ubuntu 16.10

Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak

We are already in October and you already know what that means, that a new version of Ubuntu has arrivedIt is the Ubuntu 16.10 version, which already has the 4.8.1 Kernel included within it.

This version has had the usual 6-month development, without any delay in development, since nothing extraordinary has happened that rejects the launch of it.

Ubuntu 16.10 obviously it does not have as many new features as the previous version 16.04 LTS, since in just 6 months we will have a new Ubuntu. Among the most outstanding novelties, we have the inclusion of the recently released Kernel 4.8 in its version 4.8.1 (the 4.8 had a bug). In addition, programs such as LibreOffice and Mozilla Firefox have been updated to the latest stable versions.

What is most striking is the inclusion of a experimental version of Unity 8, a desktop that promises to reach the expected convergence of devices. For example, it includes applications that are valid for both mobile phones and computers, which scale according to which screen they are using and change from mouse to touch screen depending on the device.

In addition, Unity 7 has been updated, which is still the default desktop. Users pYou will be able to choose between experimental Unity 8 and Unity 7 on the login screen.. Regarding the other new features, bugs detected in the RC versions were corrected and the Gnome 3.20 and Gnome 3.22 packages were updated as more important new features.

The support of this operating system will last about 9 months as usual, end of support at the beginning of the year 2017. For this reason, if you are a user who needs a very long-term support, I advise you to install version 16.04 LTS, which has a much longer and stable support.

As always, you can download Ubuntu 16.10 on the official website of the siteor, being able choose between all versions available and also download previous versions such as the aforementioned 16.04 LTS.

The only thing I would like to see come out soon is support for my amd Radeon r7 series card. Because currently I have preferred to use mint than Ubuntu for a graphical consumption issue.
    Greetings.
