Four weeks after earlier versionWe already have a new installment of the desktop version of Google's mobile operating system. Is about android-x86 9.0-r2, the second stable version of this series that has arrived without very striking news, but that does include some such as an updated kernel. To be more specific, the new version of the kernel that they have included is Linux 4.19.110 LTS, which means that it will be supported, in theory, for six years.
Another of the most outstanding novelties that have been mentioned in the release note of Android-x86 9.0-r2 is that they have fixed an issue related to the inability to boot under UEFI from ISO. Actually, we are not talking about a very important release, and less if we consider that they have only mentioned 4 outstanding changes that you have collected after the cut.
Android-x86 9.0-r2 highlights
- Updated to be based on the latest Android 9.0.0 Pie, which matches android-9.0.0_r54.
- Updated kernel now moving to Linux 4.19.110 LTS kernel.
- Fixed the problem that prevented starting the ISO in UEFI mode.
- Fixed an audio problem on the Microsoft Surface 3.
Android x86 not an official desktop versionTherefore, if we decide to install it on our PC, we have to bear in mind that we may experience failures. If we just want to do tests or use a specific program, it is best that we install it in some virtual machine software, for which I recommend GNOME Boxes. If we have trouble installing the system, we can always use a Live Session that we will not close, we will only pause.
