Android Q Beta 3 arrives with dark mode for the entire system

Android Q Beta 3

Yesterday, during the Google I / O conference, the company that formed part of Alphabet launched Android Q Beta 3. This version, in addition to being known by the "Q", will also be known as Android 10. This new beta comes just over a month after the launch of a beta 2 whose most outstanding novelty was the arrival of a new and improved multitasking that received the name of "Bubbles" (Bubbles, translated into Spanish).

Android Q will be the safest version released to date, and this third test version comes with more interesting news that we will detail after the jump. Considering that we are talking about beta versions, each release is expected to include many novelties that will attract attention, but we can also see how something that they had added in the previous version disappears because, in theory, they have decided that they were not such a good idea. Among the changes that usually disappear, the ones that stand out the most are changes in the image of a component.

Android Q Beta 3 adds even more security

Among the most outstanding novelties that arrive with Android Q Beta 3 we have:

  • Support for biometric authentications at the system level, allowing users to have greater control over when Android applications can access their location and restrict the launch of applications in the background, limit access to non-resettable device identifiers such as Serial number or IMEI and randomizes the MAC address when connecting to different WiFi networks.
  • Dark theme for the entire operating system. It can be activated from Settings / Display and the best thing about this topic is that it will reduce battery consumption if our device has an OLED screen. This is so because in this type of screen only the lit pixels consume energy, that is, the black ones do not consume battery because they are off.
  • Richer Notifications with smart answers.
  • Live Caption, a new function designed to automatically subtitle videos, podcasts and audio messages that are played on our device.
  • A mode that will allow us to control navigation by gestures.
  • Focus Mode, a new feature that will help us focus on things we want to get done.
  • New parental controls called Family Link.

Available not only on Pixels

Android Q Beta 3 is available on many more devices besides Pixels, being also available in some Asus, Essential, Huawei, Xiaomi, Nokia, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Sony, Tecno and Vivo. This we have to thank an initiative called Project Treble, which is precisely that, a project to bring the latest versions of Android to more devices.

Pixel owners who want to install this third beta of Android Q have to join the beta program from this link. The owners of the rest of the supported devices have to consult the information offered by the different brands. Will you install Android Q Beta 3 on your device?
